Want to put a script in startup folder that will pull the current version number for linux out of eithercompare it with the current/installed version and popup a notification if there is a later one.my attempts have failed. Wget returns the windowz page forand my greping ability is not progressed enough to pull the version number from the other page.do you have an answer to these minor blocks? Or the proposed script if you have nothing to do:)GetFlash Install Player probably has the answer but its bash is too advanced for my rudimentary knowledge.perhaps the propose script could be incorporated into GetFlash itself.i dont actually use getFlash as i have the libflashplayer.so on an different partition ( my dedicated opera partition)and then symlinked back to the other place. Wavepad sound editor trial version. This saves me from having to update each of my many puppies each time a new flashplayer comes out.my custom startup symlinking script is on here somewhere.

My first pet after X years of puppy ha he hanotes:on installing it says menu entry in utilities but doesnt - but not neededincluded popup and strings as mentioned abovei have put both popup and popup.bac into /usr/local/bin dont know where they should actually go(edit: removed startup interference as it was other changes to other things i had forgotten i made)what will you see on install: mostly nothing until a new flashplayer is about for downloadyou can run it in a terminal./zzzflashadvise from in the folder and see a bit of output. Has sleep 150 to wait for internet connection so when run in terminal no output for 150 seconds at least. No connection also gives no output.any advice on any of the above very welcome:)works in any puppy until advised otherwisestill think that this could be incorporated into GetFlash.latest.
