For example, Professional HyperChem 8.0.9 can be updated to 8.0.10 at no cost. Updates occur not as a patch but by uninstalling the previous version and installing the new version. An uninstall will generally only remove files installed by Hypercube, Inc. And all user files, including any license files, will remain as they were, provided the new install takes place at the same location as the original install.Updates that involve changes to the 'first' or 'second' digit, such as 8.0 to 9.0 or 8.0 to 8.1 are not Maintenance Updates and generally will involve an update fee and a new license.
